Sylvie Lewis Interview on NPR

The music of Sylvie Lewis

Tom Fudge

THESE DAYS | KPBS SAN DIEGO (2005-07-11)

Sylvie Lewis thinks she might have been born half a century late, but that's ok with her because she says it makes her music unique. Sylvie Lewis is a British-born, Los Angeles based singer and songwriter. And while Tangos and Tanturms is her first album, her first recording session was at age 15 with famed Beatles producer George Martin. Her music sometimes recalls 1920s cabaret but she says all of her songs are about longing. Sylvie Lewis joins us in studio to play us a few songs and talk about her music.

Guest:

  • Sylvie Lewis, is a singer songwriter. Her new album is called Tangos and Tantrums

Susan Angeletti CD Review

Bittersweet - Susan Angeletti

Under The Radar music group 2004

By Pamela L. Dow

"Fasten Your Seatbelts......"

A rising star has emerged high above the musical horizon with a dazzling display of talent, shining like a beacon in the night. Bittersweet (UTR music group), the latest recording from singer/songwriter Susan Angeletti, illuminates the soulful purity of the blues and the hard driving intensity of rock and roll with unbridled passion and heartfelt emotion. Angeletti’s no nonsense, high voltage performance style, continues captivating blues enthusiasts as well as the rock and roll faithful all across the country. Receiving high praise for her debut release, Next Years Model of The Blues, Angeletti soon discovered her loyal fan base had quickly expanded into a major following, playing to packed blues clubs and music halls throughout New England. She absolutely electrified the audience when opening for legendary bluesrocker Johnny Winter, manager Teddy Status wasted no time signing Angeletti out on tour as the opener for Winter. Her first national tour performing to sell-out crowds at popular concert venues up and down both coasts, proved to be a major turning point in her career. Angeletti's solid debut release and successful tour experience generated quite a buzz, catching the ear of multi-talented producer Tom Hambridge.

New CD release from Claudia DiNatale

Sports loss is definitely music's gain. That is confirmed by the release of The Little Things, the superb full-length debut album from young singer/songwriter Claudia DiNatale.

As a teenager growing up in Windsor, Claudia was a star high school athlete, excelling at soccer, track and field, cross-country, volleyball, and basketball. A volleyball scholarship was in the offing, but a seriously torn anterior cruciate ligament shattered those dreams. Happily, music was on hand to capture her youthful energy.

"I have always had a passion for music, ever since I started taking piano lessons at age six," explains DiNatale. "Right at the time I hurt my knees, I had been recording a demo. The injury just made my decision to focus upon music easier."
