Vocalist Renee Austin was announced as the winner of the 2003 Minnesota Music Academy Award for "Best Blues Artist" in a ceremony in St. Paul on September 25th. Sounds Of Blackness
Minnesota's own three-time Grammy Award-winning group Sounds Of Blackness will appear in, "The Night Before Christmas - A Musical Fantasy" on Fri & Sat Dec 19 & 20 8pm at the Fitzgerald Theatre in downtown St. Paul.

Carpenter-turned-bluesman Albert Cummings, 33, from Williamstown, Mass., was constructive enough in his second career to attract Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon. Better known as Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble, the duo co-produced Cummings' second album, "From The Heart," recently put out by Twin Cities-based Under the Radar Music Group. No mere SRV imitator, Cummings' guitar leads are often slow and gritty and his sweetly soulful voice suggests Steve Winwood more than Stevie Ray.
